CIVIL ENGINEERING STUDENTS GAIN PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE IN FIRST TASK OF SUMMER 2026 FIELD SURVEY, HELD IN AFTABNAGAR PLAYGROUND, DHAKA.
On June 27, 2026, Civil Engineering Department of East West University organized the first field survey of the Summer 2026 semester for 60 students enrolled in the “Surveying and Introduction to GIS” (CE7103) course at the Aftabnagar playground. The activity was supervised by two faculty members, four lab officers, and two teaching assistants, providing valuable hands-on learning experience.
This field survey is the effort to give students real world survey experience using appropriate instruments. Students developed practical skills in setting grid lines, taking staff readings, and determining ground elevations using levelling techniques, which are essential for construction and real-world field survey.
The activity aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 4 (Quality Education) through experiential learning, SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) through contour-based land planning, and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) from earthwork estimation for foundation construction.
