On July 30, 2026, Civil Engineering Department of East West University organized the second field survey of the Summer 2026 semester for 60 students enrolled in the “Surveying and Introduction to GIS” (CE7103) course at aftabnagar playground. The activity was supervised by two faculty members, four lab officers, and two teaching assistants, providing valuable hands-on learning experience.

This field survey is an essential effort to give students real-world surveying experience using advanced instruments. Students developed practical skills in conducting traverse surveys for plots bounded by a pentagon and utilizing trigonometric surveying methods to calculate the heights of tall structures, such as buildings or towers. By working with advanced equipment like theodolites and total stations, they mastered techniques that are crucial for accurate land boundary determination and modern field surveying.

The activity aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 4 (Quality Education) through experiential learning, SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) through contour-based land planning, and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) from earthwork estimation for foundation construction.
