SECOND FIELD SURVEY OF SUMMER 2025 SEMESTER, HELD IN AFTABNAGAR PLAYGROUND, DHAKA.

On August 24, 2025, the Department of Civil Engineering at East West University successfully conducted the second field survey for students of the course “Surveying and Introduction to GIS” (CE103/CE7103) at Aftabnagar Playground, Dhaka. The program was supervised by two faculty members and three lab officers, with active participation from students of both sections. The university administration generously sponsored the entire survey expenditure.

The fieldwork offered students the opportunity to face real-world surveying challenges. The second set of tasks involved Traverse survey, Trigonometric survey, and Circular curve setting, allowing students to gain practical exposure and deepen their conceptual understanding. These hands-on activities not only enhanced their problem-solving abilities but also strengthened their competence in handling surveying instruments and addressing challenges commonly encountered in professional practice.

Surveying field tasks hold particular importance in civil engineering education, as they bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications. By practicing in an outdoor setting, students learn how to adapt to site conditions, environmental constraints, and data accuracy requirements, which are vital for professional success. Such experiences also instill a sense of teamwork, responsibility, and critical thinking skills that are essential for future engineers tasked with designing and executing infrastructure projects.
