Sadik Jamal, A Civil Engineering Student Participated in the National Level Hult Prize 2026 Competition

A student from the Department of Civil Engineering at East West University achieved a remarkable milestone by participating in the Hult Prize National Round 2026, held at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology on 8 May 2026. The competition featured 60 teams representing 60 universities from across Bangladesh.

The team, “MatiPlus,” presented an innovative sludge-based organic fertilizer solution designed to address urban drainage and sludge management challenges while reducing dependence on harmful chemical fertilizers. The project promotes sustainable agriculture and environmental protection through circular waste utilization.

MatiPlus aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

Md. Sadik Jamal Kowshik, a student of the Civil Engineering Department at East West University, serves as the CEO of the MatiPlus team.
