Fall-2024 Civil Engineering Thesis Defense: Capstone Project and Thesis Presentation Day
On February 6th, 2025, the Department of Civil Engineering at East West University held its final year thesis defense for the Fall 2024 semester. This event brought together students, faculty, and industry experts to showcase final-year capstone projects and research. It provided a platform for students to present their work, receive feedback, and engage in discussions about real-world engineering challenges.
The event was presided over by Asso. Prof. Dr. Md. Naimul Haque, Chairman of the Civil Engineering Department, who highlighted the importance of academic and professional growth. Prof. Dr. Md. Saiful Islam guided the session as evaluator from the department. The session was strengthened by Eng. Md. Anisur Rahman, additional chief engineer of ICZ and Climate Change Management, Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) as industry expert, whose expert insights and guidance added great value to the discussions. Their feedback helped students connect their academic knowledge with practical engineering applications. Every presentation was followed by an interactive and critical Q & A session by the faculty members to understand the depth and contribution of the students with professional advice.
This semester, the event featured six projects presented by students from the 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th batches. The projects covered important areas of civil engineering, including structural engineering, traffic management, and environmental planning. Students from different academic years attended and learned from the engaging discussions for their future projects. The event concluded with closing remarks from the panel, emphasizing the crucial role of civil engineers in addressing modern challenges. Finally, the faculty members praised the graduating students for their dedication and encouraged them to maintain high standards of ethics and professionalism in their careers.
