The Department of Civil Engineering at East West University (EWU) hosted a seminar on “Karnaphuli Tunnel and Padma Bridge: Bangladesh's First Under-River Roadway and Challenging Long Bridge Foundation” on August 13, 2025, at the Lecture Gallery (Room 550). The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Hossain Md. Shahin, a renowned Professor at the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) and a national consultant of Karnaphuli Tunnel and Padma Bridge. He presented a detailed analysis of the design challenges, construction complexities, and strategic importance of these nationally significant projects. Different analytical and predictive analysis were shown to highlight the project challenges, and their possible solutions were discussed in brief. The program featured active participation from students and faculty, particularly during the Q&A session. The event concluded with a formal token of appreciation for Prof Shahin.
