A half day long Field Visit was arranged on 6 September 2023 for the EWU civil engineering students to visit the Akij Ready Mix Concrete (ARMC) located at Tongi, Dhaka. The plant manager Eng. Rubel Mazumdar and his team welcomed the students warmly upon their arrival. The purpose of the visit was to display the technical aspects of ready-mix concrete (RMC) preparation, quality control and delivery. First the technical specification, quality, and basic understanding of the required materials to prepare any batch of RMC were shown to the students by the engineering division. Students got demonstrations on how to operate and control the mix design from RMC processing control room. The challenges of RMC transport and how to trouble shoot the problems were discussed afterwards. The quality control (QC) laboratory was the last place where students observed the quality tests and ongoing research processes to maintain optimum quality of RMC so that the clients can get the best quality concrete on site. It was really appreciated to get warm support from all ARMC technical staff during the entire visit.
