Engineering Materials is one of the core Civil Engineering courses in the curriculum of B.Sc. in Civil Engineering degree at East West University.  In this course, we teach our students the properties, usage, application and in some cases, the production of several engineering materials that are commonly used in the civil engineering constructions.  Brick is one of the most important engineering materials which is extensively taught in this course.  We teach our students the ingredients, properties, types, several testing procedures of bricks, along with the brick production process.  To get a practical experience on how this theoretical knowledge is implemented in the brick factories, we try our best to arrange a field trip to a well-known brick factory.  It was our great pleasure that for the Summer 2022 session, one of the rising Auto brick factories of Bangladesh, Biswas Ceramics & Auto Bricks Ltd. invited us to visit their brick factory located at Saoghat, Bhulta Gausia, Rupgonj, Narayangonj.  The tour was held on September 1^st, 2022. A total of 26 students participated in this tour. One faculty member and one lab officer guided the students during this trip. The tour comprised of factory visit and detailed discussions of every step of brick production which was informative for our fellow students and faculties. The practical knowledge gained by the students through this visit will surely help them to better understand the different steps in production of bricks in Bangladesh.
