EWU Pharmacy Alumnus Abida Islam Pranty Begins Postdoctoral Research at University of Cambridge
East West University (EWU) proudly announces that Pharmacy alumna Abida Islam Pranty, who enrolled in Spring 2014, has embarked on a new chapter in her academic career as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the prestigious Cambridge Institute for Medical Research, University of Cambridge, UK, starting February 2025.
After graduating from EWU, Pranty pursued her Master’s degree in Translational Neuroscience at the University Hospital of Düsseldorf, Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, Germany. She recently completed her PhD in Biology from the same university, earning the distinction of Summa cum laude for her groundbreaking doctoral thesis. Pranty’s research career has been dedicated to stem cell research, focusing on disease modeling and regeneration. Her work has been published in renowned scientific journals, including Stem Cell Reports, EMBO, Cells, and Scientific Reports (Nature). During her postdoctoral tenure at the University of Cambridge, she will investigate rare respiratory pathologies using stem cells and lung organoid models, aiming to explore innovative therapeutic approaches.
EWU takes immense pride in Pranty’s achievements and her contributions to the field of biomedical research. She joins a growing list of distinguished EWU alumni excelling in postdoctoral research at globally renowned institutions, including Harvard Medical School, the University of California, the University of South Alabama, the University of Hamburg, and the University of Greifswald, among others.
