Pharmacy is the pursuit of science which will enable a learner to be developed professionally. Over the time with the development of pharmaceutical sectors, the global demand for pharmacists is increasing rapidly. After completion of the program, the graduates enter pharmaceutical industries, hospitals, government organizations, education & research sectors for their professional role.

Pharmaceutical Industries:

Being one of the most flourishing & thriving sectors of Bangladesh, Pharmaceutical industries offers a vast range of career opportunities for the pharmacy graduates. To cope with the growing demand of quality medicines in both local & international markets, pharma companies adopt new technological innovations with the development of state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities. These infrastructural implementations demand qualified personnel for multiple departments of the industries, namely- production, production planning, quality control & quality assurance, research & development, regulatory affairs, marketing & sales, supply chain & inventory management etc. which infer job opportunities for talented individuals who aspire a professional career in the pharmaceutical sector.

Government Jobs:

Few of the Government Organizations recruiting pharmacy graduates include DGDA, PCB, BCSIR etc.

The Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, is the Drug Regulatory Authority of the country. This DGDA supervises and implements all prevailing Drug Regulations in the country and regulates all activities related to import, procurement of raw and packing materials, production and import of finished drugs, export, sales, pricing, etc. of all kinds of medicines including those of Ayurvedic, Unani, Herbal and Homoeopathic systems drugs and medicines. Pharmacists are playing leading role in this sector. They are being recruited as Superintendent of Drugs, Drug Inspector etc in this organization.

The Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh (PCB) is an Autonomous Organization under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh that can provide scope for the graduate pharmacists. The council can be considered as the controlling authority of pharmacy education and practice. The pharmacists working in this field ensure the highest standard of quality required for pharmacy training and practice in different academia. The Main objective of the Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh is to regulate the practice of Pharmacy throughout Bangladesh

Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) is a scientific research organization and regulatory body of Bangladesh. Its main objective is to pursue scientific research for the betterment of the Bangladeshi people. BCSIR has established pharmaceutical sciences research division where the main research sections are Drug Discovery and Bioassay, APIs (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) and Pharmaceutical Excipients, Quality Assurance of Modern and Herbal Medicines, Dosage Form etc. Pharmacists are working diligently in this sector to uphold the advancement of science and technology related to this field.

Moreover, graduates of pharmacy can also work in any other government sectors.

Hospital and Model Pharmacy:

Along with pharmaceutical industries, hospital pharmacy & model pharmacy has become another promising sector for pharmacist. Currently several reputed hospitals in Bangladesh have emphasized on recruiting hospital pharmacist for better patient management.

Recently several initiatives have been undertaken to implement the concept of model pharmacy. A model pharmacy (Level I) service must be provided, managed, or supervised by an A grade pharmacist with an honours degree or above, who will have to be present on the premises to sell the prescribed drugs to the customers, and to provide them with necessary guidance and assistance. Several B or C grade pharmaceutical personnel may assist with the dispensing of drugs under the supervision of the A grade personnel.

So, graduating from pharmacy a graduate can have the opportunity to work in hospital pharmacy or model pharmacy as A grade pharmacist.

Education and Research:

Graduates of pharmacy with excellent academic achievements are now also getting the opportunity to work in several educational institutes as faculty members. Moreover, as the world progresses, research and investment in pharmaceutical sectors are getting more interest. After graduation many of our students are getting the opportunity to engage themselves in higher study and research in abroad which includes top universities of USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, Japan etc.
