Department of Pharmacy Hosts Orientation Program to Welcome Fall 2025 Freshers

The Department of Pharmacy, East West University, organized a vibrant orientation program on June 17, 2025, to welcome the freshers of the Fall 2025 semester into the EWU family.

Honorable Pro-Vice Chancellor of EWU Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik graced the event as Chief Guest. Distinguished alumni Mr. Santanu Mahiuddin, Head of Quality Assurance at Novartis (Bangladesh) Ltd., and Ms. Rejawana Akhter, Group Coordinator, Product Management Department at Square Pharmaceuticals PLC, also graced the occasion as special guests. Their participation served as a strong bridge between the department’s academic excellence and its proud professional legacy. The lively participation of the newly enrolled students and respected faculty members under the leadership of Professor Dr. Md. Amirul Islam, Chairperson of the Department of Pharmacy, made the event joyful.

Professor Dr. Md. Amirul Islam warmly welcomed the freshers and congratulated them on starting their academic journey at EWU. His encouraging remarks inspired the students to pursue their goals with enthusiasm and determination.

Guest speakers Mr. Mohiuddin and Ms. Akhter shared their valuable experiences and career insights, inspiring the students to navigate their paths with clarity and purpose. The Honorable Pro-Vice Chancellor delivered an engaging speech, motivating the students to embrace the exciting journey ahead. The first session concluded with a reflection from a representative of the newly admitted students who shared his aspirations and the motivation behind choosing the Department of Pharmacy at EWU. This session was moderated by Ms. Sowkot Jahan Shipa, Lecturer, Department of Pharmacy, EWU.

The second session commenced with a brief yet informative overview of the department, presented by the Chairperson and this session was conducted by Dr. Farhana Rizwan, Associate Professor of the department. Following this, faculty members introduced the department’s academic programs, scholarships, extracurricular opportunities, and essential university guidelines. They also highlighted the importance of utilizing the rich resources that EWU provides—from advanced laboratories to a well-equipped library—for a holistic educational experience. Ms. Tonima Hamid, Deputy Head of the Career Counseling Center (CCC), EWU also joined the event and encouraged the students to grab the available facilities and opportunities offered by the center to build their skills, enhance personal development and maintain mental well-being.

The Department of Pharmacy extends its heartfelt congratulations to all the freshers and wishes them a successful, enriching experience at East West University.
