Bridging Ideas: Students and Faculty Members of Department of Pharmacy Participated at The International Conference on Pharmaceutical and Health Science (ICPHS 2024)
The International Conference on Pharmaceutical and Health Science (ICPHS 2024), held on December 6-7, 2024, in Dhaka, Bangladesh, was a landmark event hosted by the University of Asia Pacific (UAP). Co-hosted by the National University of Malaysia (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, UKM) and Universitas Sumatra Utara from Indonesia, this event represented collaboration among global experts, scholars, and students in pharmaceutical and health sciences. The conference, themed “Advancements in Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences for Sustainable Development”, emphasized addressing global health challenges and driving innovative solutions for sustainable development. The event was further enriched by the active participation of faculty and students from East West University (EWU), who contributed significantly to the academic discourse.
Professor Dr. Chowdhury Faiz Hossain chaired a pivotal session in this conference, fostering insightful discussions. Lecturer Ms Nazifa Tabassum presented a poster titled “Isolation, Identification and Bioactivity of Endophytic Fungi Isolated from the Medicinal Plant Murraya paniculata (Family-Rutaceae).” Her research offered valuable insights into how natural sources can potentially contribute to the identification of lead molecules. Lecturer Ms. Farhana Akter delivered an impactful oral presentation on “Antibacterial Efficacy of Varied Sized Silver Nanoparticles Synthesized by Different Combination of Reducing Agent against Methicillin-Resistant E. coli.” Her research showcased promising advancements in nanotechnology for combating antibiotic-resistant bacterial strains. The conference also featured impressive poster presentations by EWU students. Students of Assistant Professor Dr. Shawkat Md Aminul Islam and Senior Lecturer Mr. Mamunur Rahman presented analyses of marketed pharmaceutical formulations, also knowledge on antiplatelet drug. Lecturer Mr. Md. Jahid Hossain’s students showcased research on Quality by Design (QbD) in formulation development. Senior Lecturer Ms. Najneen Ahmed’s students presented findings on molecular docking, illustrating innovative computational approaches in drug design.
This conference fostered a vibrant exchange of knowledge and innovative ideas among global experts, scholars and students. The active involvement of EWU faculty and students added significant value to the event, highlighting their cutting-edge research in areas such as nanotechnology, network pharmacology, Quality by Design, and molecular docking. This collaborative effort not only underscored the importance of addressing pressing global health challenges but also demonstrated the potential of interdisciplinary and international partnerships in driving advancements for sustainable development in pharmaceutical and health sciences.
