Achievements Details

Mr. Shehanur Rahman Asif, a graduate of Civil Engineering Dept., EWU, was honored with the prestigious award for the youth changemakers the “Joy Bangla Youth Award 2023 (JBYA)”. Mr. Asif and his team received this award for their remarkable philanthropic initiative called 'Valo Kajer hotel'. This year, the youth platform Young Bangla, under the Centre for Research and Information (CRI), acknowledged 'Valo Kajer hotel' along with 11 other youth-led organizations for their exceptional contributions to the community and society. The awards were presented by Mr. Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the Chairperson of CRI and the ICT adviser to the Prime Minister, during a lively ceremony held at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Youth Development, Savar.  

Since 2019, 'Valo Kajer Hotel' has been dedicated to assisting landless and transient individuals in Dhaka. With approximately 2,500 volunteers working daily, the organization provides aid to 1,200-1,300 marginalized individuals each day.

The EWU community extends congratulations to Mr. Shehanur Rahman Asif for his remarkable achievement, which has brought honor and glory to EWU.
