The Department of EEE successfully organized a two-day hands-on workshop on Electrical Services Design Using AutoCAD on 22–23 August 2024, aimed at enhancing students’ practical skills and bridging the gap between theoretical learning and industry practices.

The sessions were conducted by Engr. Md. Shahidul Islam, PEng., Executive Engineer (Electrical – E-M Design), Health Engineering Department (HED), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and Chief Adviser, Tie-ins Engineering Design. He provided in-depth guidance and shared his professional expertise with the participants.

Key Learning Areas:

• Layout planning for electrical services in multistoried buildings.
• Circuiting and load distribution techniques for safe and efficient design.
• Substation design, including power receiving and distribution arrangements.
• Conduit layout design using AutoCAD.
• Circuit and connection diagram preparation.
• Load calculation, wire sizing, and circuit breaker rating determination.
• Hands-on AutoCAD exercises applying theoretical concepts to real-world scenarios.

Through this workshop, students gained hands-on experience in professional electrical design practices. They learned how to apply theoretical concepts to real-world projects using AutoCAD. This experience enhanced their technical skills, improved their problem-solving abilities, and prepared them for future academic and professional challenges.
