Seminar on “Industry 5.0 and Sustainable AI: Transforming Bangladesh’s Future”
A highly engaging seminar titled “Industry 5.0 and Sustainable AI: Transforming Bangladesh’s Future” was held at East West University on August 4, 2025, at the Lecture Gallery (Room No. 126). Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering, delivered a thought-provoking keynote address.
In his keynote, Dr. Reza emphasized the urgent necessity for Bangladesh to embrace Industry 5.0, a human-centric, sustainable, and resilient industrial revolution. He elaborated on the convergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, and green technologies as key enablers of enhanced industrial productivity, environmental sustainability, and inclusive socio-economic progress.
Dr. Reza underlined a critical paradigm shift: from traditional automation to human-machine collaboration, fostering innovation that is not only technologically advanced but also socially and environmentally responsible. He illustrated how Sustainable AI can play a transformative role in tackling Bangladesh’s challenges in agriculture, healthcare, education, and the development of smart cities, aligning with the Smart Bangladesh Vision and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
He also called for strategic investments in AI-driven startups, workforce upskilling, and tri-sector collaboration among academia, industry, and government to build a globally competitive AI ecosystem for Bangladesh.
The event drew an audience of more than 120 enthusiastic participants from multiple disciplines and was successfully organized by the East West University Robotics Club.
This seminar marks a significant step toward fostering awareness and action on the future of AI and Industry 5.0 in Bangladesh’s development landscape.
