Fall 2025 Seminar on “Coastal Dynamics of Bangladesh: Insights from Remote Sensing, Hydrodynamic Modeling, and Climate Trends”

The Department of Civil Engineering at East West University successfully organized a seminar for the Fall 2025 semester on Thursday, 11 December 2025, featuring a keynote lecture by Prof. Dr. G. M. Jahid Hasan from the Department of Civil Engineering, Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST). The seminar, titled “Coastal Dynamics of Bangladesh: Insights from Remote Sensing, Hydrodynamic Modeling, and Climate Trends,” offered a comprehensive examination of Bangladesh’s dynamic and vulnerable coastal environment.

Dr. Hasan, a renowned expert in water resources and coastal engineering, discussed the application of remote sensing, hydrodynamic modeling, and climate trend analysis to understand coastal erosion, sediment transport, cyclone prediction, sea-level rise, and strategies for enhancing climate resilience. He highlighted how these advanced engineering tools contribute to disaster risk reduction and sustainable coastal planning. The session concluded with an engaging question-and-answer segment, during which students and faculty actively discussed real-world engineering challenges, making the seminar highly informative and intellectually stimulating.
