Dr. Farhana Rizwan is a highly accomplished academician, researcher, and pharmacist with a passion for advancing healthcare through innovative research and education. Born in 1977, she developed an early interest in the field of pharmacy, driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact on patient well-being.
Ms. Farhana earned her Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. PHRM) degree with honors from the first private University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Bangladesh, University of Science & Technology, Chittagong (USTC). Recognized for her academic excellence, she continued her education, completing a Master's in Pharmaceutical Sciences, focusing on general pharmacy. After completing her M. PHRM, Ms. Rizwan transitioned to academia, joining the faculty at a renowned private university, East West University. Her teaching philosophy revolves around nurturing a deep understanding of pharmaceutical principles while inspiring critical thinking among her students. Known for her engaging lectures and commitment to mentorship, she has played a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of pharmacists.
Driven by a commitment to scholarly pursuits, Farhana pursued a Ph.D. in Clinical Pharmacy & Pharmacology from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, a leading research institution of India. Her doctoral research delved into pre-clinical and clinical research, contributing valuable insights to the field. During this time, she published several peer-reviewed articles in reputable scientific journals, establishing herself as a rising star in clinical research.
Simultaneously, Dr. Rizwan continued her research endeavors, securing research grants and collaborating with industry partners. Currently, a collaborative research project is going on, titled, “Lipid Nano capsule loaded topical system for transdermal delivery of estradiol as hormone replacement therapy for early postmenopausal women”, funded by Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited. Her work has spanned a diverse range of topics, from nanoparticle based-drug discovery to analytical pharmaceutical chemistry, demonstrating her versatility in contributing to various aspects of pharmaceutical science. Her commitment to the advancement of pharmaceutical knowledge and dedication to improving patient outcomes exemplify her as a leader in the field.
Beyond her academic and research pursuits, Farhana remains actively involved in various departmental activities, contributing to Department Development Committee, Technical Committee, Curriculum Development Committee, Examination Committee, Ethical Review Committee of Pharmacy department of EWU, and advocating for advancements in pharmacy practice. Her multifaceted career continues to inspire aspiring pharmacists and researchers alike, making her a respected figure in both academia and the pharmaceutical industry.
