Departmental Seminar: Presented by Dr. Tonima Tasnim Ananna

The Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at East West University organized a seminar on astrophysics on 4 December 2025 at the MPS Seminar Room. The seminar, titled “Catching a Star: How Modern Astronomers Find Exciting Phenomena,” was delivered by Dr. Tonima Tasnim Ananna, Assistant Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Wayne State University, Michigan. In her talk, Dr. Ananna discussed key developments in modern astrophysics, including cosmic expansion, light-element abundances, and the cosmic microwave background. She also explained the detection of black-hole mergers through LIGO and concluded with insights into how the James Webb Space Telescope is uncovering some of the earliest galaxies formed after the Big Bang.
