Dr. Md. Sohel Rana is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Data Science at East West University, Bangladesh. He also serves as the Executive Director of the Center for Research and Training (CRT), East West University. Previously, he served as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Malaysia, for five years. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Statistics from the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh, and earned his Ph.D. in Statistics from the Department of Mathematics, University Putra Malaysia, Malaysia. With over 15 years of experience in teaching and research, Dr. Rana has taught a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in statistics, mathematics, and data science. He has published more than 85 research articles in international peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. He has delivered talks at several international conferences held in Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Turkey and Bangladesh. His research has also been recognized with Silver and Bronze medals at research competitions.
Dr. Rana's research interests include robust statistical methods, outlier detection, regression diagnostics, multivariate analysis, econometric methods, data mining, statistical machine learning. His current research focuses on the application of advanced statistical and machine learning methods to public health, medical, and epidemiological data for predictive modeling, causal inference, and health policy evaluation.
