Dr. Md. Mongur Hossain specializes in the synthesis and characterization of two-dimensional (2D) materials, particularly transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs). He earned his Ph.D. in Nanoscience and Technology from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China, and further honed his expertise over four years of postdoctoral research at Hunan University, China (2019-2022), and the University of Stuttgart, Germany (2022-2023).
Dr. Hossain has authored 21 SCI-indexed journal articles, which have received over 900 citations (Google Scholar, November 2024). His research interests include 2D materials and nanostructures for energy, environmental, and electronic applications.
2024/10-Present: Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences (MPS), East West University, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
2022/07-2023/10: Postdoctoral Researcher, Institute of Physical Chemistry, University of Stuttgart, Stuttgart 70569, Germany.
2019/05-2022/06: Postdoctoral Researcher, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Hunan University, Changsha 410082, P. R. China.
2015/10-2019/01: Research Assistant, National Center for Nanoscience and Technology, Beijing, P. R. China.
My research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials, with a particular emphasis on two-dimensional (2D) materials for applications in energy, environmental, and electronic devices.
Currently I am teaching the following course for Fall 2024:
