Dr. Halima Begum is serving as a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at East West University (EWU), Bangladesh since December 2010. She holds a Doctor of Engineering (D.Engg.) and a Master of Engineering (M.Engg.) from Yamaguchi University, Japan, and earned her B.Sc. in Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

Dr. Begum's research interests include pattern recognition, digital signal and image processing, and machine learning applications. Her work has focused on applying artificial intelligence to Bengali sign language processing and the development of assistive technologies for individuals with speech disabilities, for which she has received recognition. She is committed to translating engineering research into solutions with practical societal impact and has supervised numerous capstone design projects and undergraduate theses in these areas. Beyond her research and teaching responsibilities, she has also contributed to curriculum development and the implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) practices at EWU.
