Biotechnology and genetic engineering are no longer confined to laboratories—they are shaping breakthroughs in health, agriculture, sustainability, and industry.
Our BSc in Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology program blends rigorous foundational knowledge with hands-on laboratory experience, fostering analytical thinking and technical expertise. Students engage in research projects that span molecular biology, bioinformatics, microbiome analysis, and translational applications, grounding their learning in both theory and practice. Our laboratories are continually expanding, with access to specialized facilities and collaborative research platforms across the university, enabling students and faculty to push boundaries together.
The intellectual energy at GEB is reflected in our vibrant student life. Our Biotech Club and annual Biotech Fest showcase student innovation through poster presentations, Olympiads, and interdisciplinary engagement with peers from institutions nationwide. These events celebrate creativity, inspire scientific dialogue, and foster a culture of excellence beyond the classroom.
We are very proud of notable achievements by our students and faculty. From national awards recognizing excellence in science and arts to competitive research grants from the Ministry of Science and Technology our community continues to establish its mark in research and professional arenas.
Central to our mission are faculty members who are academically distinguished and internationally trained, with research experience across Bangladesh, Japan, Russia, the United States, and Hong Kong. The department is led by scholars with doctoral training from globally reputed institutions and hands-on research experience at organizations such as International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) and NASA-affiliated research programs. Our faculty’s scholarly work includes numerous publications in international peer-reviewed journals, as well as nationally recognized honors such as the Prime Minister Gold Medal. The department is further strengthened by accomplished adjunct faculty and a dedicated laboratory team, ensuring strong research mentorship, practical training, and a rich diversity of scientific perspectives for our students.
