Dr. Shamim H Ripon is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at East West University, where he has served since 2011. He earned his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Southampton, UK, and his MSc in Computer Science from the National University of Singapore. He subsequently held postdoctoral research appointments at the Universities of Glasgow and York, UK.

His research spans software engineering, formal methods, artificial intelligence, computer vision, and applications in healthcare and precision agriculture. He is the Principal Investigator of a BDT 14 lakh research project funded by the East West University Center for Research and Training (EWUCRT) to develop a brain–computer interface system for wheelchair control for people with severe mobility impairments. Alongside his publications in international journals and conferences, he mentors student researchers and contributes to academic quality assurance and professional training in cybersecurity awareness and IT education.
