As Chairperson, it is my pleasure to welcome you to one of the university’s oldest, largest, and most dynamic academic communities—the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Home to more than 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students and supported by a strong team of full-time faculty alongside dedicated technical and administrative staff, the department has developed into a vibrant center for learning, inquiry, and innovation.
We offer undergraduate programs in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) and Information and Communication Engineering (ICE), as well as a master’s program for students seeking advanced academic and research engagement. All programs are accredited by the Bangladesh Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (BAETE) and aligned with the Washington Accord, affirming our commitment to internationally recognized academic standards.
Our academic philosophy is rooted in balance—between theory and practice, depth and adaptability. The curriculum is continuously reviewed and refined to reflect emerging technologies while maintaining a strong grounding in core computing and engineering principles. Students engage in hands-on laboratory work, project-based learning, and early research exposure, developing both technical competence and critical thinking. Our faculty members, a large number of whom hold doctoral degrees from reputed international universities, bring together teaching excellence, research experience, and industry insight to create a culture of mentorship and intellectual curiosity.
Learning within the department extends well beyond the classroom. A dynamic ecosystem of student-led clubs and professional initiatives—spanning programming, robotics, cybersecurity, telecommunications, and IEEE activities—encourages collaboration, creativity, and leadership. Through participation in programming contests, hackathons, Olympiads, seminars, flagship events such as the CSE Fest, and even gaming competitions, students challenge themselves, explore their interests, and gain practical skills that prepare them for real-world environments.
Our alumni are a lasting source of pride for the department. Graduates are contributing to leading global technology companies such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Intel, and other major multinational organizations, pursuing advanced degrees at prestigious universities, and making meaningful impacts across academia, industry, and entrepreneurship. Their achievements reflect the enduring spirit of excellence within our CSE community.
