On July 17, 2025, Senior Lecturer Afsana Al Sharmin delivered a presentation at a colloquium hosted by the Department of MPS. Her talk, titled "A Logistic-Type Latent Variable Bayesian Model for Assessing Variability in Hypoglycemic Symptom Consistency Among Diabetes Patients," centered on her PhD research involving symptom reporting patterns in individuals with diabetes. In her study, she investigated various threshold functions to model the consistency of hypoglycemic symptom reporting. Employing Bayesian inference and Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods, she estimated a logistic-type latent variable model to predict this variability.
