Successful Organization of the Fall 2023 Orientation Program by the Department of Civil Engineering
The Department of Civil Engineering wholeheartedly welcomed its 21st batch of undergraduate students on September 27, 2023. A total of 91 students enrolled in the program in the Fall 2023 semester, with 79 actively participating in the event organized by the East West University Civil Engineering Club (ECEC). The orientation took place in the basement (LB1) near the new cafeteria, where freshers were greeted with fresh flowers by club members. Hosted by Arafat Ibna Wohab from batch 10 and Sadia Islam Hema from batch 18, the program commenced at 12:30 p.m., immediately following the central orientation. The session was graced by esteemed faculty members, including the Department Chairperson and Associate Professor Dr. Md. Naimul Haque, Associate Professor Dr. Md. Tawfiq Sarwar, Assistant Professor Khondoker Billah, and Assistant Professor Sadik Rahman. The newcomers were introduced to the department and its offerings through a presentation and were acquainted with the faculty and other amenities. Dr. Md. Naimul Haque delivered a warm welcome speech, offering valuable guidance to the students. A group photo was taken with the presence of faculty and club members, capturing the memorable moment. Representatives from the ECEC committee, President Arefin Siddique, and General Secretary Md Mustafizur Rahman, extended their best wishes to the freshers and invited them to join the club. The event continued with faculty advising, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Khondoker Billah, where students received guidance on course selection and had their queries addressed. Later, the freshers explored the campus with the assistance of club members, gaining insights into the department. Refreshments were provided, allowing students to engage in meaningful conversations with ECEC members, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
