Cement is widely used as a construction material. On 22nd February 2020, the Civil Engineering Department of East West University organized a field trip to the cement production factory of Metrocem Cement Limited situated at West Muktarpur in Munshigonj.The trip provided opportunity to the students of the subject 'CE201 Engineering Materials' to obtain practical experience in cement production, storage and distribution system in the factory. The students were able to discuss with the officials and engineers at the factory about the cement production and quality control process. During the field visit, the students were guided to the storage facilities of major raw ingredients of cement: Limestone, Clinker, Gypsum, and Fly ash. The students were shown how the standards of chemical composition and physical properties of cement are ensured in a laboratory facility. The experience the students gained at the factory has been tremendously productive in complementing the theoretical knowledge. The authority of Metrocem Cement Limited has been thanked for providing the students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the production of cement.
